About Calesta
"For if that which you seek, you find not within yourself, you will never find it without." Starhawk, Charge of the Goddess
I am a wife, mother, friend, and woman of spirit. For the last few years I have stayed home raising my two beautiful children, I am married to a wonderfully talented and supportive husband. We were married up in northern Michigan, in a couple feet of snow (combat boots and long underwear under my wedding gown!) by a shaman at dusk on christmas eve- talk about the beginnings of a life together:)
I am a mind-body-spirit worker, and teacher. I have studied healing arts, including reiki and Yoga, which I began certification to teach in 2002. I have studied as a counselor, spiritually and throughout a traditional western approach. Spiritually I consider myself to be quite interfaith and eclectic, and I study from all traditions, although my focus has always been with women's spirituality, and the divine feminine. I find there is great healing in that for women. It is my hope to help people on their own path, to find their own inner wisdom, and joy in life. I am deeply respectful of each person's path, of all religious traditions, and my classes are taught with a strong emphasis on having compassion for the self.
My approach to yoga (and all other healing classes!) is gentle, trusting the body's own wisdom of it's limitations and strengths. I encourage awareness of and compassion towards the inner self, while finding a balance and connection between the body, mind, and spirit. I enjoy teaching gently, and working with special populations, such as women, healing and restorative work, children, and most recently, gardeners and artists. I creatively weave all of my experience into a unique and healing experience for those I teach, always encouraging them to trust their own inner wisdom.
